Guitar lessons with Ron Payne – Classical Guitar Teacher, Mentor & Performer
Have you ever dreamed of learning the classical guitar — its expressive sound, timeless elegance, and rich artistic depth?
My journey began early in life, the moment I first heard the legendary Andrés Segovia. That spark led me to study with Brazilian maestro Laurindo Almeida, and later under John Mills and Peter Calvo (a direct disciple of Len Williams, father of John Williams) at the Sydney Spanish Guitar Centre.
My didactic approach draws from the teachings of Andrés Segovia, Abel Carlevaro, Roland Dyens, and Leo Brouwer. I bring a lineage of profound artistry and technique into each lesson — blending tradition with musical curiosity and personal growth.
Today, I teach from my private studio in Box Hill, Victoria, where I specialise in:
- Classical guitar performance
- AMEB exam and diploma preparation (including AMusA)
- Music theory, ear training, and form & analysis
- Audition and competition preparation
- Confidence-building and personal expression through music
Whether you’re a complete beginner, an experienced player, or the parent of a young student, I offer structured and supportive lessons tailored to individual goals and musical dreams.
Call, text or email me for a friendly chat about how we can ignite your spark for classical guitar — or take your playing to the next level with purpose and passion.
